Tijdens de Targa Florio van 1969 verscheen de Alfa Romeo T33/2 met startnummer #248 aan de start, ingezet door het Italiaanse privéteam Scuderia Madunina. De wagen werd bestuurd door Enrico Pinto en Giovanni Alberti, twee ervaren coureurs met een sterke staat van dienst in de Italiaanse autosport. De race vond plaats op het beruchte Circuito Piccolo delle Madonie in Sicilië, een uitdagend parcours van ruim 72 kilometer per ronde, bestaande uit smalle bergwegen en talloze bochten.
De T33/2 was uitgerust met een 2.0-liter V8-motor die ongeveer 270 pk leverde, gekoppeld aan een handgeschakelde vijfversnellingsbak.
