De Aston Martin Valhalla markeert in 2025 een technisch keerpunt voor het merk. Het is de eerste middenmotor-supercar van Aston Martin in serieproductie en tegelijk de eerste plug-in hybride van het huis. De auto wordt gelimiteerd tot 999 exemplaren en zat in 2025 in de laatste validatiefase, waarna de leveringen in de tweede helft van het jaar moesten beginnen. Daarmee schuift Aston Martin op van klassieke frontmotor-sportwagens naar een segment waarin elektrificatie, aerodynamica en circuitcapaciteit samenkomen.
De aandrijflijn is opgebouwd rond een nieuwe 4,0 liter V8 biturbo met flat-plane krukas, gecombineerd met drie elektromotoren. Samen leveren die 1.079 pk en 1.100 Nm. Twee elektromotoren zitten op de vooras en verzorgen onder meer torque vectoring, terwijl een derde elektromotor in de nieuwe achttraps transmissie is geïntegreerd. Aston Martin geeft voor de Valhalla een sprint van 0 naar 100 km/h in 2,5 seconden op en een begrensde topsnelheid van 350 km/h. De hoogvoltaccu heeft een capaciteit van 6,1 kWh.
Op technisch vlak is de Valhalla meer dan een krachtige hybride. De auto kreeg een koolstofvezel monocoque, aluminium subframes, pushrod-voorwielophanging en actieve aerodynamica met DRS- en airbrake-functies. Aston Martin spreekt van meer dan 600 kilo neerwaartse druk in Race-modus. De remmen bestaan uit carbon-keramische schijven van 410 mm voor en 390 mm achter. Daarmee positioneert het merk de Valhalla nadrukkelijk als een auto die niet alleen op vermogen leunt, maar ook op stabiliteit, remcapaciteit en mechanische precisie.
Wat de Valhalla journalistiek interessant maakt, is dat hij twee werelden probeert te verbinden. Enerzijds is er de traditionele Aston Martin-lijn van afwerking en merkuitstraling, anderzijds de nadruk op F1-afgeleide techniek, hybride respons en actieve voertuigcontrole. In plaats van een compromisauto presenteert Aston Martin de Valhalla als een volwaardige middenmotor-supercar met hypercar-prestaties. Juist daarom is dit model voor 2025 geen bijrolspeler in het gamma, maar een auto die laat zien waar Aston Martin technisch naartoe wil.
