De Subaru Impreza S5 WRC '97 met startnummer 1 werd in de ADAC Rallye Deutschland van 1999 bestuurd door Armin Kremer en Fred Berßen. Ingezet door EuroStal Kremer Rally Team behaalde deze auto de overwinning in deze editie van de rally, verreden op asfaltwegen in de Moezelregio. Wisselende weersomstandigheden en technische proeven bepaalden het verloop.
De Impreza beschikte over een 2.0-liter turbomotor met vierwielaandrijving, ontwikkeld volgens WRC-reglementen. Met circa 300 pk, sequentiële versnellingsbak en geavanceerde differentieelsystemen bood de wagen optimale prestaties op glad asfalt. Chassis en ophanging waren specifiek afgestemd op asfaltrally’s.
De overwinning in Duitsland was een belangrijk resultaat binnen het seizoen. Armin Kremer eindigde in het WK Rally 2006 op positie 20 in het eindklassement. De prestatie in eigen land benadrukte zijn expertise als rallyrijder en de degelijkheid van het team en de auto.
Het 1:18 schaalmodel is geproduceerd door Sun-Star en toont de auto in zijn originele uitvoering met correcte livery, sponsorlogo’s en interieurdetails. Een historisch correct model voor verzamelaars van Subaru of klassieke WRC-auto’s.
