Tijdens de Rally van Duitsland 2004 eindigde de Ford Focus RS WRC '04 met startnummer 8 van François Duval en co-rijder Stéphane Prévot op de tweede plaats. Deze rally maakte deel uit van het FIA World Rally Championship en werd verreden over verharde wegen in de Moezelregio. Duval reed voor het Ford Motor Co. Ltd Rallye Sport team, dat dat seizoen uitkwam met de Focus RS WRC op asfalt, gravel en sneeuw. De Duitse ronde werd gekenmerkt door wisselende weersomstandigheden en uitdagende militaire tankbanen bij Baumholder.De Ford Focus RS WRC '04 beschikte over een 2.0-liter Duratec turbomotor met vierwielaandrijving en een sequentiële zesversnellingsbak. De auto leverde circa 300 pk en was voorzien van een geavanceerd chassis met instelbare demping en remkoeling, aangepast aan het ruwe asfalt van de Panzerplatte. Sun-Star brengt dit model in schaal 1:18 uit met functionerende portieren, realistisch interieur en rallydecals zoals toegepast tijdens het evenement in Trier.Duval eindigde het WRC-seizoen 2004 als zesde in het rijderskampioenschap, terwijl Ford in het constructeurskampioenschap op de derde plaats eindigde. De tweede plaats in Duitsland was één van zijn beste prestaties voor het team, met sterke concurrentie van Citroën en Subaru. De #8 Focus blijft een opvallende verschijning in de geschiedenis van het WRC.
