De McLaren MCL39 met startnummer #4 van Lando Norris reed op 7 december 2025 de Abu Dhabi Grand Prix op Yas Marina als beslissende seizoensfinale. In een race over 58 ronden finishte Norris als derde, achter winnaar Max Verstappen en teamgenoot Oscar Piastri. Die podiumplaats was voldoende om het wereldkampioenschap veilig te stellen, in een slotrace waarin positionering en risico’s beperken zwaarder wogen dan het forceren van een alles-of-niets-aanval.
De MCL39 was in 2025 aangedreven door de Mercedes-AMG M16 E Performance hybride power unit, met V6-turbomotor en de bekende ERS-componenten (MGU-K en MGU-H). Op Yas Marina draaide het voor de #4 om tractie uit langzame bochten, stabiele bandentemperaturen en het beperken van energieverlies in verkeer, vooral naarmate de stintlengtes en strategische keuzes richting het slot van de race duidelijk werden.
