De Genesis GMR-001 Hypercar #19 markeert in 2026 een nieuw hoofdstuk in het FIA World Endurance Championship. Genesis Magma Racing verschijnt met een eigen LMDh-prototype in de Hypercar-klasse en brengt daarmee voor het eerst een Koreaanse fabrikant naar het hoogste niveau van de langeafstandsracerij. De #19 wordt ingezet voor Paul-Loup Chatin, Mathieu Jaminet en Dani Juncadella.

Onder de carrosserie ligt een door Genesis ontwikkelde 3,2 liter V8 turbomotor, gekoppeld aan het verplichte hybride systeem binnen de LMDh-reglementen. Het chassis is ontwikkeld in samenwerking met ORECA, een logische keuze voor een merk dat in korte tijd een betrouwbaar raceprogramma moest opbouwen. De GMR-001 gebruikt Michelin-banden en is gebouwd rond efficiëntie, koeling en stabiliteit over lange stints.

De #19 onderscheidt zich door een donker kleurenschema met Liquid Metal-details en Koreaanse Hangeul-letters voor Magma. De auto oogt daardoor anders dan de #17, zonder de gezamenlijke identiteit van Genesis Magma Racing los te laten. Vooral de smalle Two-Line-koplampen leggen een directe link met de straatauto’s van Genesis.

Voor Chatin, Jaminet en Juncadella draait het eerste seizoen vooral om opbouwen. In de Hypercar-klasse staan gevestigde fabrikanten met jaren ervaring, waardoor foutloze races en regelmatige progressie belangrijker zijn dan vroege beloftes. De GMR-001 #19 is daarmee geen losse showauto, maar het beginpunt van een serieus fabrieksprogramma.
