Fernando Alonso behaalde tijdens de Grand Prix van Hongarije 2025 een vijfde plaats met de Aston Martin AMR25 #14. De race werd verreden op de 4,381 kilometer lange Hungaroring bij warme omstandigheden, wat het bandenmanagement tot een bepalende factor maakte. Alonso vertrok vanaf de vijfde positie na een stabiele kwalificatie waarin hij het maximale uit de wagen haalde.
Bij de start wist hij zijn positie te behouden en bleef uit de incidenten in de eerste bochten. Aston Martin koos voor een eenstoppensstrategie met een vroege wissel van medium naar harde banden. Alonso reed lange tijd in een groep met Russell en Piastri, waarbij de verschillen binnen enkele seconden bleven. De AMR25 toonde vooral op de korte rechte stukken competitieve snelheid, maar verloor tijd in de langzame secties.
In de tweede helft van de race hield Alonso de druk op Russell, maar kon geen aanval plaatsen. De vijfde plaats bleef tot aan de finish onbedreigd. Hij eindigde 59 seconden achter winnaar Lando Norris en pakte tien punten voor het wereldkampioenschap. Daarmee leverde hij het team uit Silverstone het beste resultaat sinds de seizoensstart.
Aston Martin verstevigde door deze uitslag de vijfde plaats in het constructeurskampioenschap. Alonso noemde het resultaat “representatief voor het tempo van de wagen” en benadrukte de betrouwbaarheid als positief punt in aanloop naar de races op Zandvoort en Monza.
