De DS PENSKE-auto met startnummer 77 werd in 2025 gekoppeld aan Taylor Barnard voor het seizoen 2025/26 (Season 12). DS PENSKE bevestigde zijn komst in september 2025, als teamgenoot van Maximilian Günther. Daarmee begon de #77 in het kalenderjaar 2025 vooral aan het einde van het jaar aan zijn wedstrijdprogramma, met de seizoensopener in São Paulo.
Technisch reed DS PENSKE in Season 12 met de DS E-TENSE FE25. Dat is het teamplatform binnen de Gen3 Evo-regels, waarin veel basiscomponenten gestandaardiseerd zijn, maar waarin de DS-powertrain, software en energieregeneratiestrategie het verschil moeten maken. DS Automobiles en PENSKE AUTOSPORT presenteerden de FE25 in het najaar van 2025 in aanloop naar de officiële wintertest.
In de São Paulo E-Prix van 06-12-2025 liet de #77 meteen zien hoe klein de marges zijn in Formula E. Barnard kwalificeerde zich als dertiende en eindigde de race als dertiende, één ronde achter de winnaar, in een wedstrijd die door neutralisaties en incidenten sterk werd beïnvloed. Voor DS PENSKE betekende het een eerste meetpunt voor de FE25 in race-omstandigheden, met data over energiemanagement en bandengebruik als uitgangspunt voor de volgende rondes.
