CUPRA KIRO zette in de seizoensstart van 2025/26 in Formula E een nieuwe rijdersbezetting in, met Josep Maria “Pepe” Martí in auto #3 naast Dan Ticktum. Martí stapte daarmee in bij het Silverstone-gebaseerde team, dat in deze periode onder de CUPRA KIRO-naam opereert en met een vaste teamstructuur werkt onder teambaas Russell O’Hagan. De eerste race van dat seizoen was de São Paulo E-Prix op 06-12-2025, waardoor de #3 in de praktijk vooral bij het einde van kalenderjaar 2025 hoort.
Technisch reed CUPRA KIRO met Porsche-klantmateriaal, door Formula E aangeduid als de Porsche 99X Electric WCG3. Het Gen3/Gen3 Evo-concept in Formula E betekent dat het basisplatform grotendeels gelijk is, maar dat de powertrain, software en energieregeneratiestrategie de verschillen maken. Voor Martí draaide het debuut direct om energiemanagement, het benutten van regenereerzones en het vermijden van tijdverlies door contact of straffen, typisch voor races op stratencircuits.
Martí’s eerste optreden voor CUPRA KIRO in São Paulo verliep onrustig door een zware crash waarbij zijn auto over de kop ging en kort brand veroorzaakte. Hij stapte uit zonder letsel, maar de race eindigde daarmee voortijdig en leverde vooral data en leermomenten op voor de volgende evenementen. In dezelfde openingsrace kende ook Ticktum een moeizame wedstrijd, wat het teamweekend extra afhankelijk maakte van analyse en herstel in de daaropvolgende rondes.
