De Citroën Racing #25 hoort bij de terugkeer van Stellantis onder een nieuw label in Formula E richting het seizoen 2025/26, dat in kalenderjaar 2025 al zichtbaar werd in de aanloop en de eerste wedstrijden in december. In die bezetting draagt Jean-Éric Vergne startnummer 25 bij Citroën Racing. Daarmee kreeg de auto een duidelijke rol binnen het Stellantis-programma: punten pakken in een kampioenschap waarin strategie en energiebeheer vaak zwaarder wegen dan pure kwalificatiesnelheid.
Technisch draait de #25 om het Gen3/Gen3 Evo-concept: een grotendeels gestandaardiseerd basisplatform, met ruimte voor merkgebonden keuzes in aandrijving en software binnen de homologatie. Citroën positioneert de auto nadrukkelijk rond een powertrain die door Stellantis Motorsport is ontwikkeld, met focus op efficiëntie, regeneratie en het consistent houden van prestaties over lange runs. In de praktijk bepaalt dat hoe de #25 Attack Mode-momenten plant, hoe agressief er geregenereerd wordt en hoe de auto met bandentemperatuur omgaat op stratencircuits.
Voor 2025 betekent dit vooral dat de #25 het startpunt markeert van een nieuw teamprofiel: nieuwe naam, nieuwe presentatie, maar met de bekende Formula E-parameters die elke ronde terugkomen. De meerwaarde van zo’n auto zit niet in één ronde, maar in het herhaalbaar rijden van dezelfde energiebalans, het beperken van tijdverlies bij neutralisaties en het vermijden van contact in het drukke middenveld.
