In de Dakar Rally van 3 tot en met 17 januari 2025 stond startnummer 200 op de lijst als Dacia Sandrider van The Dacia Sandriders in de hoogste autoklasse (Ultimate/T1+). De equipe bestond uit Nasser Al-Attiyah en navigator Édouard Boulanger. Voor Dacia was het de eerste Dakar als fabrieksteam met de Sandrider, in een editie die volledig in Saudi-Arabië werd gereden van Bisha naar Shubaytah, met 12 etappes.
De Sandrider is een rally-raid prototype met een carbon carrosserie op een buisframe, permanente vierwielaandrijving en een 6-traps sequentiële versnellingsbak. Dacia communiceert voor de auto een 3,0-liter V6 biturbo met directe injectie (maximaal 265 kW/360 bhp en 539 Nm), dubbele driehoeksdraagarmen en 350 mm veerweg, op 37-inch BFGoodrich-banden. Daarmee ligt de nadruk op stabiliteit bij hoge snelheid en op het opvangen van lange stukken met ruw terrein, waar afstelling en bandbeheer vaak zwaarder tellen dan één snelle kilometer.
Sportief gezien bleef de #200 gedurende de rally in de buurt van het podium en pakte de combinatie een belangrijk moment op etappe 9, waar Al-Attiyah de dagzege behaalde met de Sandrider. Die rit maakte zichtbaar dat het tempo van de nieuwkomer niet alleen uit constante tijden kwam, maar ook uit pure snelheid wanneer route en omstandigheden dat toelieten.
Aan de finish eindigde de #200 als vierde algemeen, net buiten het podium, maar als beste Dacia in de eindstand. Binnen hetzelfde team viel op dat de rally voor de andere Sandriders niet volledig volgens plan verliep, waardoor de klassering van Al-Attiyah en Boulanger extra gewicht kreeg in de beoordeling van het eerste Dakar-projectjaar.
