De Arrows A6 met startnummer 29 van Marc Surer reed de Dutch Grand Prix 1983 op 28-08-1983 op Circuit Zandvoort. Surer kwalificeerde als veertiende en bracht de auto na 70 ronden als achtste aan de finish, op twee ronden van de winnaar. In een wedstrijd die voorin werd beslist door Ferrari, was het voor Arrows vooral zaak om uit problemen te blijven en de race met een stabiel tempo uit te rijden.
De A6 was in 1983 een klassiek atmosferisch Formule 1-pakket: een 3,0-liter Ford Cosworth DFV V8 in combinatie met het Arrows-chassis. Op Zandvoort telden tractie en balans in de middensnelle bochten, terwijl de DFV vooral zijn waarde bewees door voorspelbaarheid en betrouwbaarheid over raceafstand. Voor Surer betekende dat een aanpak zonder piekmomenten, maar met rondetijden die lang genoeg constant bleven om in de buurt van de punten te blijven.
De race zelf werd gewonnen door René Arnoux vóór Patrick Tambay, met John Watson als derde. Voor startnummer 29 was de achtste plaats geen puntenfinish in het toenmalige systeem, maar wel een duidelijke bevestiging dat Arrows op een technisch veeleisend circuit een complete wedstrijd kon rijden. In de context van 1983, met het turbotijdperk dat steeds nadrukkelijker opkwam, liet de #29 zien dat een goed uitgevoerde DFV-race nog steeds resultaat kon opleveren in het middenveld.
