In de Bathurst 12 Hours 2025 beleefde Team WRT een dominante start van het Intercontinental GT Challenge-seizoen met een spectaculaire één-twee finish. De #46 BMW M4 GT3, bemand door Valentino Rossi, Raffaele Marciello en Charles Weerts, eindigde als tweede achter de teamgenoot #32. BMW behaalde hiermee zijn eerste overwinning in de GT3-reglementering op Mount Panorama.
De race vond plaats op 2 februari 2025 op het 6,213Â km lange Mount Panorama Circuit. De #46 startte niet vooraan maar klom op via consistente ronden en slimme pitstops. Een drive-through straf wegens een overtreding tijdens een safety car situatie dwong het team terug naar de laatste PRO-posities. Desondanks herstelden Rossi, Marciello en Weerts zich krachtig en herpakten het tempo.
Dankzij een uitgekiende brandstofstrategie bleef de #46 in de slotfase op koers, terwijl andere Pro-auto’s vlak voor het einde nog moesten tanken. Marciello verrichte een indrukwekkende inhaalactie op Jules Gounon’s Mercedes-AMG bij The Chase, waardoor de #46 alsnog oprukte naar de tweede podiumplek op slechts circa 10 seconden achterstand op de winnaars van de #32.
Het resultaat vormde een bevestiging van WRT’s dominantie in 2025: na eerdere zeges in de 24 U van Dubai en de 6 U van Abu Dhabi volgde in Bathurst opnieuw een topnotering. Voor Rossi was het zijn eerste podium op Bathurst, voor Marciello en Weerts ook een sterk seizoenstart, en de #46 droeg bij aan BMW’s historisch prestatie bij de Bathurst 12 Hours.
