De Ecosse C286 verscheen in 1986 onder Ecurie Ecosse, uitgerust met een 3-liter Rover V6. Tijdens de 24 Uur van Le Mans 1986 (1 juni) werd chassis #79 bestuurd door David Leslie, Mike Wilds en Ray Mallock. De wagen voltooide 181 ronden, maar werd gediskwalificeerd wegens bijvullen van koelvloeistof buiten de pits.
David Leslie, ervaren Schotse coureur actief sinds 1978 in sportwagens, droeg bij aan het C2-klassement: Ecurie Ecosse werd dat seizoen kampioen in de C2 Cup van het Wereldkampioenschap Groep C. Mallock, aan zijn zesde Le Mans, en Wilds, aan zijn vijfde deelname in 1986, vormden sterke teamgenoten.
Ondanks het teleurstellende resultaat in Le Mans kende de C286 in 1986 meerdere successen: chassis #79 won de C2-klasse op de Nürburgring en Spa, met Leslie, Mallock en Wilds aan het stuur en een uitrijdende prestatie.
