De Spice SE89C met startnummer 45 verscheen in 1991 aan de start van de 24 uur van Le Mans in de C1-klasse. Het was een inzending van Euro Racing in samenwerking met Chamberlain Engineering uit het Verenigd Koninkrijk. De wagen werd bestuurd door Nick Adams, Robin Donovan en Richard Jones.
De wagen was uitgerust met een atmosferische 3,5Â liter Ford Cosworth DFZ V8-motor, gekoppeld aan een handgeschakelde vijfversnellingsbak. De carrosserie was opgebouwd rondom een aluminium monocoque en voorzien van composietpanelen met aerodynamische afwerking. Het relatief lage gewicht en de motorafstelling waren afgestemd op de eisen van de C1-klasse.
Tijdens de race viel de #45 uit na ongeveer 128 ronden, rond het dertiende uur, door elektrische problemen. Daarmee reed de wagen circa 1740Â km en behaalde een gemiddelde snelheid van ongeveer 198,5Â km/h, voordat de bout ermee ophield.
Spark Models brengt dit prototype in schaal 1:43 uit. Het model is voorzien van de originele kleurenstelling: wit met opvallende zwarte en rode accenten, met correct weergegeven belettering, startnummer en sponsors. Natuurgetrouw zijn tevens details als de luchthappers, spiegels en achtervleugel uitgewerkt.
Voor verzamelaars van Group C- en Le Mans-modellen is dit model een waardevolle aanvulling. Het staat symbool voor de rol van middenklassers als Euro Racing en Chamberlain in het vroege jaren '90 endurance-circuit.
