De Ecosse C285 met startnummer 78 werd op 1 juni 1986 ingezet door Écurie Ecosse tijdens de 24 uur van Le Mans. Deze C2-klasse prototype werd aangedreven door een Ford Cosworth DFL V8-motor van 3,3 liter en was gekoppeld aan een lichtgewicht chassis. De auto was bedoeld voor de strijd in de lichtere categorieën van het deelnemersveld, waar betrouwbaarheid en efficiëntie minstens zo belangrijk waren als pure snelheid.
