De 1968 Alfa Romeo T33/2 met startnummer 178 is een iconisch sportprototype dat zijn sporen verdiende tijdens de 52e Targa Florio op 5 mei 1968. Deze wagen, ingezet door het Belgische Racing Team V.D.S., werd bestuurd door de Belgische coureur Teddy Pilette en de Nederlandse autocoureur Rob Slotemaker. Samen behaalden zij een indrukwekkende vijfde plaats in deze legendarische Siciliaanse wegrace.
De T33/2 was uitgerust met een 2.0-liter V8-motor, ontwikkeld door Autodelta, de motorsportafdeling van Alfa Romeo. Deze krachtbron leverde ongeveer 270 pk en was gekoppeld aan een handgeschakelde zesversnellingsbak. Het chassis was een lichtgewicht buizenframe met een open carrosserie, wat zorgde voor een uitstekende balans tussen gewicht en stijfheid.
