De BMW 3.0 CSL met startnummer 10 is de 1973 winnaar van de 24 Uur van Spa met coureurs Dieter Quester en Toine Hezemans. Deze overwinning markeerde een belangrijk moment voor BMW Motorsport, dat in dat seizoen voor het eerst officieel deelnam aan langeafstandsraces met de nieuwe CSL, een model dat werd ontwikkeld op basis van de E9-coupé. De wagen combineerde lichtgewicht technieken met beproefde betrouwbaarheid, wat cruciaal bleek op het uitdagende circuit van Spa-Francorchamps.
Onder de motorkap bevond zich een zes-in-lijn motor met een cilinderinhoud van 3.153 cc, goed voor ongeveer 360 pk. De combinatie van het lage gewicht, de directe besturing en de achterwielaandrijving gaf de auto uitstekende rijeigenschappen op de natte en glooiende Ardennenbaan. Tijdens de race werd het team uitgedaagd door hevige regenbuien, nachtelijke stints en hevige concurrentie, maar de BMW hield stand en reed na 24 uur als eerste over de meet.
De wagen was voorzien van opvallende BMW Motorsport-striping in blauw, paars en rood over een witte carrosserie. Het team Schnitzer verzorgde de inzet en pitstrategie, terwijl Quester en Hezemans hun ervaring en uithoudingsvermogen optimaal benutten. De combinatie van technische degelijkheid en coureursprestaties bleek onverslaanbaar.
