De Porsche 963 met startnummer 5 reed tijdens de 24 Uur van Le Mans 2024 voor het Porsche Penske Motorsport-team. De auto werd bestuurd door Matt Campbell, Michael Christensen en Frédéric Makowiecki. De 2024-editie markeerde het 100-jarig bestaan van de legendarische endurancerace en vormde een van de hoogtepunten van het FIA World Endurance Championship-seizoen.De LMDh-prototypeauto beschikte over een 4,6-liter V8-biturbo gekoppeld aan een hybride systeem, ontwikkeld op basis van de voormalige Porsche 918 Spyder-technologie. De aandrijflijn leverde een gecombineerd vermogen van ongeveer 680 pk en maakte gebruik van een geavanceerd chassis gebouwd door Multimatic. Het team vertrouwde op Michelin-banden en gebruikte Shell-brandstof, met Mobil 1 als technische partner.Tijdens de race voerde de #5 Porsche meerdere ronden het veld aan, maar kwam uiteindelijk als zesde over de finishlijn in het algemeen klassement. Ondanks technische uitdagingen in de nachtelijke uren en felle concurrentie van Ferrari, Toyota en Cadillac, bleef de #5 auto competitief.
