De Renault Fuego Turbo werd in 1983 aan het programma toegevoegd en bleef leverbaar tot het einde van de Franse productie in 1985. De Fuego zelf werd door Renault gepositioneerd als opvolger van de Renault 15 en 17 en werd in Europa verkocht als driedeurs liftback in het sport-compacte segment. In de tijdlijn van het model vallen de Turbo-uitvoeringen samen met de faceliftperiode en de laatste Europese bouwjaren.
In de Fuego Turbo ligt een 1.565 cm³ viercilinder turbomotor (door Renault genoemd als A5L turbo), met een fabrieksopgave van 132 pk. De aandrijving gaat naar de voorwielen, passend bij de FF-layout van de Fuego. Renault communiceerde voor deze uitvoering een topsnelheid rond 200 km/u.
De basisvorm bleef die van een 2+2-coupé/liftback met een lange neus en aflopende achterzijde. In de technische hoofdgegevens worden voor het model afmetingen genoemd van circa 4.358 mm lengte, 1.692 mm breedte en 1.315 mm hoogte, met een wielbasis van 2.443 mm. Dat pakket verklaart zowel de coupéachtige houding als de praktische toegang via de achterklep.
Voor verzamelaars is de Fuego Turbo vooral relevant als representant van Renaults vroege turbofase in de jaren tachtig, gekoppeld aan een model dat in Europa relatief kort na zijn introductie uit productie ging. Renault geeft voor de totale Fuego-productie 265.367 exemplaren op, waarbij de Europese productie in Frankrijk eindigde in oktober 1985.
