De Aston Martin DBX 707 werd in 2023 gepositioneerd als de krachtigste luxe-SUV op de markt en markeerde een belangrijke stap in het SUV-aanbod van het Britse merk. Waar de standaard DBX al aanspraak maakte op sportieve prestaties, tilde de 707-versie dit concept naar een hoger niveau. De toevoeging van deze krachtbron kwam niet zomaar: Aston Martin wilde met de DBX 707 niet alleen meedingen in het segment van exclusieve SUV’s, maar deze ook domineren.
Onder de motorkap ligt een door AMG geleverde 4.0-liter V8 biturbo, die voor deze uitvoering werd opgevoerd tot 707 pk en 900 Nm koppel. De versnellingsbak werd vervangen door een speciaal afgestelde 9-traps automaat met natte koppeling, waardoor de schakeltijden merkbaar korter zijn. De sprint van 0 naar 100 km/u wordt geklokt op 3,3 seconden, waarmee de DBX 707 sneller is dan veel sportauto’s in zijn klasse. De topsnelheid bedraagt 310 km/u.
Het onderstel kreeg eveneens een grondige update. De vering en demping zijn strakker afgesteld voor betere rijdynamiek, terwijl een elektronisch sperdifferentieel op de achteras helpt bij het verdelen van het enorme vermogen. Visueel is de 707 herkenbaar aan de grotere grille, aangepaste luchtinlaten, vier uitlaten en een subtiele dakspoiler. Binnenin bleef het luxegevoel behouden met hoogwaardige materialen, maar met een sportiever randje.
De 707 is een belangrijke auto voor Aston Martin, die meer is dan een SUV met extra vermogen. Het is een strategisch model dat de sportieve aspiraties van het merk naar het SUV-segment vertaalt. Met zijn prestaties, afwerking en merkuitstraling wist de DBX 707 zich in 2023 stevig te vestigen in het topsegment van de high-performance SUV’s.
