De Volkswagen T1 Promotion-Van “Schwäbisch Hall” is een opvallend reclameschild op wielen. In de jaren ’60 reed Volkswagen een uitvoering van de T1-bus bij bankfilialen van Schwäbisch Hall, uitgerust met een transparante koepel waarin een maquette van een nieuwbouwwijk stond. Deze promotievariant maakte volgens bronnen al vanaf de jaren ’60 reclame voor de bouwspaarbank in het dagelijks verkeer en bij filialen in Duitsland.
Het model is later vereeuwigd als schaalmodel: fabrikant Schuco heeft in de Pro R-serie van hoogwaardige resin miniaturen dit specifieke busje nagemaakt. Het model verschijnt op schaal 1 : 18 in een beperkte oplage van 500 stuks.
De realisatie van de promotiebus begon dus als functioneel reclamedrager in de jaren ’60, terwijl de modelversie pas veel later – rond 2019 – op de markt kwam als hoogwaardige verzamelminiatuur van Schuco.
