De Alpine Alpenglow HY6 is een concept- en demonstratieauto (“rolling prototype”) van Alpine, ontwikkeld als testplatform voor waterstofverbranding. De HY6-versie werd in oktober 2024 gepresenteerd tijdens de Paris Motor Show (Mondial de l’Auto 2024) als doorontwikkeling van de Alpenglow die in 2022 werd getoond.
Het belangrijkste technische verschil is de aandrijflijn. De Alpenglow HY6 gebruikt een door Alpine ontwikkelde 3,5-liter V6 biturbo die is ontworpen voor verbranding op waterstof. Het opgegeven maximumvermogen bedraagt 544 kW (740 pk) bij 7.600 tpm, met een koppel van 770 Nm bij 5.000 tpm en een maximaal toerental van 9.000 tpm.
Alpine positioneert de Alpenglow-lijn als een rijdend laboratorium voor toekomstige toepassingen van waterstoftechniek in sportieve voertuigen. In 2024 werd de Alpenglow eerder in een viercilinderconfiguratie getoond tijdens demonstraties rond de 24 uur van Le Mans 2024, onder meer met Zinédine Zidane achter het stuur.
In publicaties rond de HY6 ligt de nadruk op de combinatie van een hoogtoerige verbrandingsmotor met waterstof als brandstof, met ontwerpkeuzes die gericht zijn op efficiënte verbranding en het beperken van watergebruik in het systeem.
