De 62e Rolex 24 At Daytona werd op 27 en 28 januari 2024 verreden op Daytona International Speedway en opende het IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship. In de GTD-klasse stond de #78 Lamborghini Huracán GT3 Evo2 van Forte Racing na de kwalificatie in de top vijf: Loris Spinelli noteerde 1:44.709, goed voor een startpositie bij de voorste groep in een klasse met bijna dertig auto’s.

Forte Racing, de voortzetting van de eerder als US RaceTronics opererende equipe die in 2023 zijn eerste IMSA-zege pakte bij Petit Le Mans, zette de Lamborghini in voor Devlin DeFrancesco, Misha Goikhberg, Sandy Mitchell en Spinelli. Goikhberg won eerder een Rolex 24-klasse in Prototype Challenge (2016) en DeFrancesco heeft een Daytona-klassezege in LMP2 (2022). Spinelli geldt al jaren als een van de vaste Lamborghini-rijders in GT3. De Huracán GT3 Evo2 gebruikt een atmosferische 5,2-liter V10 (5.204 cc) met achterwielaandrijving en een sequentiële transmissie, gebouwd om stints constant af te werken.

In de etmaalrace reed de #78 vooral in de brede GTD-middenmoot, waar posities vaak wisselen door pitwindow-keuzes, het moment van cautions en het terugvinden van vrije baan in multiclass-verkeer. DeFrancesco en Goikhberg namen een groot deel van de nachturen, Mitchell en Spinelli leverden de snelle stints wanneer de baan meer grip bood. Grote incidenten bleven uit, maar het resultaat werd gaandeweg bepaald door opgelopen achterstand en de tijd die verloren gaat zodra je buiten de directe strijd om de klassezege valt.

Na 24 uur werd Forte Racing geklasseerd als 40e overall en in GTD met 676 ronden; de officiële eindtijd was 23:59:41.758, op 115 ronden van de GTD-winnaar. De finish maakte het een complete Rolex 24 voor de #78, maar zonder het podiumperspectief dat de kwalificatie in de aanloop nog suggereerde.
