In Skyfall (2012) grijpt James Bond terug op de Aston Martin DB5 wanneer hij M uit Londen weghaalt en koers zet richting Schotland. De coupé met kenteken BMT 216A functioneert in de film als een herkenbaar anker binnen de Bond-reeks en verwijst naar eerdere DB5-optredens. De auto wordt gebruikt voor de rit naar Skyfall Lodge en komt later opnieuw in beeld wanneer de situatie escaleert.
De Aston Martin DB5 werd in 1963 geïntroduceerd als doorontwikkeling van de DB4 en was gebouwd rond Touring’s Superleggera-constructie met een aluminium carrosserie. Het ontwerp van de DB5-carrosserie wordt doorgaans toegeschreven aan Federico Formenti bij Carrozzeria Touring Superleggera. De productierun liep van juli 1963 tot september 1965. Onder de motorkap ligt de 4,0-liter zescilinder lijnmotor van Tadek Marek met drie SU-carburateurs en een opgegeven vermogen van 282 bhp; handbakken kregen in deze periode vaak een ZF vijfversnellingsbak.
In Skyfall is de DB5 geen decorstuk: tijdens de aanval op Skyfall Lodge, in het eindgevecht, gebruikt Bond de auto als onderdeel van de geïmproviseerde verdediging. De wagen wordt uiteindelijk uitgeschakeld door zwaar machinegeweervuur en explosieven van Silva’s mannen, waarna Bond de beschadigde DB5 achterlaat. De scène legt de nadruk op de kwetsbaarheid van een klassieker in een moderne actiesituatie, zonder de auto als technische gadget-showcase te gebruiken.
