De Ferrari 499P met startnummer 51 keerde in 2023 terug naar het hoogste niveau van de langeafstandsracerij. De wagen werd ingezet door het fabrieksteam Ferrari AF Corse in de Hypercar-klasse van het FIA World Endurance Championship. Tijdens de 24 uur van Le Mans 2023 wisten Alessandro Pier Guidi, James Calado en Antonio Giovinazzi een historische overwinning te behalen. Daarmee won Ferrari voor het eerst sinds 1965 weer algemeen in Le Mans.
De 499P is een prototype met een geavanceerde hybride aandrijflijn. De auto wordt aangedreven door een 3.0-liter V6-turbomotor, gekoppeld aan een elektromotor op de vooras. Deze combinatie levert een totaalvermogen van ongeveer 680 pk, in lijn met het Hypercar-reglement. De motor is afgeleid van het blok in de 296 GT3, maar aangepast voor gebruik in een prototype met vierwielaandrijving.
Het chassis is volledig opgebouwd uit koolstofvezel en werd specifiek ontwikkeld voor de 499P. Aerodynamica speelde een grote rol in het ontwerp, met een focus op efficiëntie en balans over lange afstanden. De opvallende rode kleurstelling werd aangevuld met gele details, een verwijzing naar historische Ferrari-racewagens. De #51 reed met sponsoren als Richard Mille en Shell.
Tijdens het WEC-seizoen 2023 behaalde de #51 meerdere podiumplaatsen en sloot het seizoen af met de wereldtitel voor coureurs. Pier Guidi en Calado wisten daarmee voor de derde keer kampioen te worden in het WEC, Giovinazzi veroverde zijn eerste titel. De overwinning in Le Mans was doorslaggevend voor het succes van het seizoen.
Deze uitvoering in schaal 1/64 wordt geproduceerd door Looksmart en is bedoeld voor verzamelaars die op zoek zijn naar een gedetailleerde weergave van deze mijlpaal in Ferrari’s racegeschiedenis. De levering van het model staat gepland voor het vierde kwartaal van 2025.
