De Grand Prix van Italië 2025 op Monza stond voor Ferrari in het teken van grote verwachtingen. Voor Lewis Hamilton betekende de race een nieuwe kans om met de SF-25 voor eigen publiek een sterk resultaat neer te zetten. Het team zette in op een afstelling met lage luchtweerstand, passend bij het hoge tempo van het “Temple of Speed”.
In de kwalificatie reed Hamilton zich naar de vijfde tijd in Q3. Een gridstraf van vijf plaatsen wierp hem echter terug naar de tiende startpositie. Daarmee was duidelijk dat het een lastige race zou worden, want op Monza zijn de mogelijkheden om in te halen beperkt en telt iedere plaats op de startgrid zwaar mee.
Tijdens de race wist Hamilton gestaag naar voren te komen, geholpen door de snelheid van de Ferrari-motor op de rechte stukken. De beperkingen in bochtenwerk werden echter duidelijk zichtbaar. De SF-25 kon niet op tegen de balans en aerodynamische grip van de McLaren en Red Bull. Uiteindelijk kwam Hamilton als zesde over de streep, ruim een halve minuut achter de winnaar. Teamgenoot Charles Leclerc sloot af op de vierde plaats, waarmee de verschillen binnen het team zichtbaar bleven.
Voor Hamilton en Ferrari is dit resultaat een bevestiging van de gemengde vorm van de SF-25. Op de rechte stukken is de wagen competitief, maar in de technische secties verliest hij terrein. De zesde plaats leverde punten op, maar het onderstreepte ook dat er verdere ontwikkeling nodig is om voor podiumplaatsen mee te doen.
