Tijdens de 24 uur van Le Mans in 1967 bracht Ferrari drie 330 P4’s aan de start, waaronder het exemplaar met startnummer 24. Deze wagen werd bestuurd door de Belgische coureurs Willy Mairesse en Jean “Beurlys” Blaton. De auto werd ingezet door het befaamde Equipe Nationale Belge, met steun van de Scuderia Ferrari. De strijd tegen de oppermachtige Ford GT40’s werd intens, waarbij Ferrari trachtte het hoofd te bieden aan de Amerikaanse overmacht in het tweede jaar van het Ford-Ferrari duel.
De Ferrari 330 P4 beschikte over een 4,0-liter V12-motor met een vermogen van ongeveer 450 pk. De wagen was gebouwd volgens de Group 6 prototype-reglementen en stond bekend om zijn verfijnde aerodynamica, lichtgewicht buizenchassis en uitmuntende balans. De #24 reed met klassieke Belgische accenten op de carrosserie, passend bij de nationale inschrijving. De P4 combineerde brute kracht met precisie en elegantie in zijn ontwerp.
Tijdens de race kende de #24 een moeizaam verloop. Mairesse en Beurlys moesten uiteindelijk opgeven na 296 ronden vanwege mechanische problemen. Ondanks de uitvalbeurt droeg de wagen bij aan Ferrari’s inspanningen om hun eer te verdedigen tegen Ford. De overwinning ging dat jaar naar Ford, maar de P4 zou een iconische status behouden in de geschiedenis van endurance racing.
