Tijdens de 24 Uur van Le Mans in 1967 verscheen Ferrari aan de start met meerdere krachtige inzendingen, waaronder de Ferrari 412P met startnummer 25. Deze wagen werd bestuurd door de Mexicaanse coureur Pedro RodrÃguez en de Italiaan Giancarlo Baghetti, beiden ervaren racers met een indrukwekkend palmares. De wagen maakte deel uit van het door het NART (North American Racing Team) ingezette privéteam, dat werd ondersteund door Ferrari.
De Ferrari 412P was uitgerust met een 4,0-liter V12-motor, die goed was voor een vermogen van ongeveer 420 pk.
