De Toyota GR DKR Hilux EVO #216 werd in de Dakar Rally 2024 bestuurd door de jonge Amerikaan Seth Quintero en zijn Duitse co-piloot Dennis Zenz. Quintero, bekend om zijn recordaantal etappezeges in de Dakar Rally, maakte in 2024 de overstap naar de T1+-klasse met het Toyota Gazoo Racing-team. Ondanks technische problemen in de eerste week eindigden ze de rally op de 42e plaats in het algemeen klassement.
Quintero begon zijn carrière in de UTV-klasse (T3) en vestigde zich als een veelbelovende jonge rijder. In 2022 behaalde hij twaalf etappezeges in één Dakar Rally, een record in de lichte prototypenklasse. In 2023 maakte hij zijn debuut in de T1+-klasse en eindigde als tweede in het algemeen klassement van de Dakar Rally.
Dennis Zenz, zijn co-piloot sinds 2020, heeft een solide staat van dienst in de rallysport. In 2023 behaalde hij samen met Quintero de tweede plaats in de T3-klasse van de Dakar Rally en won ze de World Rally-Raid Championship (W2RC) in dezelfde klasse.
