De Rally Islas Canarias 2025 betekende de eerste Spaanse WRC-ronde op asfalt sinds 2021. De 49e editie vond plaats van 24 tot en met 27 april op Gran Canaria en omvatte achttien klassementsproeven met een totale competitieve afstand van 301 kilometer. Sébastien Ogier en Vincent Landais verschenen aan de start met de Toyota GR Yaris Rally1 Hybrid #17, ingezet door Toyota Gazoo Racing WRT.
De GR Yaris Rally1 was voorzien van een 1,6-liter turbomotor gekoppeld aan een 100 kW hybride-unit en vierwielaandrijving. Ogier maakte optimaal gebruik van de elektrische boost in de kortere bergproeven, waar acceleratie uit langzame bochten cruciaal was. De wagen stond op medium Michelin-banden, geschikt voor de constante temperatuur van ongeveer 25 °C. In de openingsetappes hield het Franse duo aansluiting bij teamgenoot Rovanperä, die uiteindelijk de leiding nam.
Gedurende de tweede wedstrijddag leverde Ogier enkele snelste tijden af, maar hij verloor seconden door een kleine slip op de proef Moya 2. De Toyota bleef technisch probleemloos en noteerde gemiddeld de tweede snelste sectortijden van het veld. In de afsluitende Power Stage verzekerden Ogier en Landais zich van plaats twee in het algemeen klassement, waarmee Toyota een dubbelzege boekte bij haar eerste deelname aan de Canarische WRC-ronde.
De prestatie verstevigde Ogier’s positie binnen het kampioenschap, ondanks zijn gedeeltelijk programma. Voor Toyota betekende het resultaat een belangrijk onderdeel van de constructeurswinst in 2025 en een bevestiging van de competitieve balans van de GR Yaris Rally1 Hybrid onder de nieuwste technische voo
