Elfyn Evans en navigator Scott Martin begonnen het WRC-seizoen 2025 sterk met een tweede plaats in de Rallye Monte-Carlo. Met de Toyota GR Yaris Rally1 #33 reden zij een constante rally over achttien proeven rond Gap in de Franse Alpen. De openingsdag eindigde Evans als tweede, op slechts 2 seconden van leider Thierry Neuville.
De Toyota GR Yaris Rally1 beschikt over een 1.6 liter turbomotor gekoppeld aan een hybride systeem, goed voor circa 500 pk. Ondanks een halve spin op ijzige ondergrond op vrijdag wist Evans de tweede plaats vast te houden. De GR Yaris presteerde stabiel op de nieuwe Hankook-banden, al gaf Evans aan moeite te hebben met grip op droog asfalt.
Evans won onder meer de derde klassementsproef (Avançon–Notre-Dame-du-Laus) en bleef in het spoor van teamgenoot Sébastien Ogier. In het laatste weekend wist hij concurrent Adrien Fourmaux voor te blijven. De rally werd uiteindelijk gewonnen door Ogier, met een voorsprong van 18,5 seconden op Evans.
Met deze 1–2-finish voor Toyota Gazoo Racing begon het team sterk aan het nieuwe seizoen. Evans verzamelde 26 punten en bewees opnieuw zijn snelheid in wisselende omstandigheden. De GR Yaris Rally1 #33 reed zonder technische problemen naar het podium.
