De 2008 Brabus B63S in Obsidian Black is gebaseerd op de Mercedes-Benz C 63 AMG, maar kreeg in Bottrop een duidelijk eigen karakter. De donkere lak past goed bij de brede houding van de W204-generatie, terwijl Brabus de auto vooral scherper en krachtiger maakte zonder het basisconcept te veranderen.
Onder de motorkap ligt de 6,2-liter atmosferische AMG V8. Standaard leverde de C 63 AMG 457 pk en 600 Nm, maar met het Brabus B63S-pakket steeg het vermogen naar ongeveer 530 pk en 650 Nm. Daarmee sprintte de auto in circa 4,1 seconden naar 100 km/u.
Brabus paste onder meer de motorsoftware, luchtfilters en uitlaatcomponenten aan. Ook waren 19-inch wielen, sportbanden, een aangepast onderstel en een sperdifferentieel leverbaar. Het resultaat was geen subtiele zakenauto meer, maar een compacte sportsedan met een droge V8-klap en genoeg vermogen om modern verkeer nog steeds moeiteloos bij te houden.
Voor verzamelaars is vooral de combinatie van Obsidian Black, Brabus-details en de vroege W204 C 63-basis interessant. De B63S hoort bij een periode waarin Brabus atmosferische AMG-motoren nog met relatief klassieke tuningmiddelen aanscherpte.
