De Ferrari SF-23 met startnummer 38 werd op 7 maart 2025 getest op het Fiorano-circuit door Scuderia Ferrari-reservepiloot Zhou Guanyu. Deze test, uitgevoerd onder het Testing of Previous Cars (TPC)-reglement, bood Zhou de gelegenheid om waardevolle kilometers te maken in een Formule 1-wagen van Ferrari, ter voorbereiding op zijn rol binnen het team.
Zhou Guanyu, voormalig lid van de Ferrari Driver Academy van 2015 tot 2018, keerde in 2025 terug naar Maranello als een van de twee officiële reservecoureurs van het team, naast Antonio Giovinazzi. Tijdens de test op Fiorano legde Zhou meerdere ronden af in de SF-23, waarmee hij zijn ervaring met Ferrari's Formule 1-materiaal verder uitbreidde.
De SF-23, ingezet tijdens het Formule 1-seizoen 2023, is uitgerust met een 1,6-liter V6-turbomotor en een hybride ERS-systeem. Het chassis is vervaardigd uit koolstofvezelcomposiet met een honingraatstructuur, en de ophanging bestaat uit dubbele draagarmen met push-rod aan de voorzijde en pull-rod aan de achterzijde. De wagen beschikt over een sequentiële achtversnellingsbak en Brembo-remmen. In 2023 behaalde de SF-23 één overwinning en negen podiumplaatsen, waarmee Scuderia Ferrari derde werd in het constructeurskampioenschap.
