De Ferrari SF-23 met startnummer 44 werd op 21 januari 2025 getest op het Fiorano-circuit, het privétestcircuit van Scuderia Ferrari in Maranello. Deze testdag markeerde de eerste kennismaking van Lewis Hamilton met een Ferrari Formule 1-wagen, voorafgaand aan zijn debuutseizoen bij het team. Hamilton legde 30 ronden af, goed voor 89 kilometer, onder toezicht van teamleden zoals teambaas Fred Vasseur en vicevoorzitter Piero Ferrari. Charles Leclerc nam eveneens deel aan de test en reed 14 ronden in de middag.
De SF-23, oorspronkelijk ingezet in het Formule 1-seizoen 2023, is uitgerust met een 1,6-liter V6-turbomotor en een hybride ERS-systeem. Het chassis is vervaardigd uit koolstofvezelcomposiet met een honingraatstructuur, en de ophanging bestaat uit dubbele draagarmen met push-rod aan de voorzijde en pull-rod aan de achterzijde. De wagen beschikt over een sequentiële achtversnellingsbak en Brembo-remmen. In 2023 behaalde de SF-23 één overwinning en negen podiumplaatsen, waarmee Scuderia Ferrari derde werd in het constructeurskampioenschap.
